DESCRIPTION:Webinar: Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities and the IPBES assessment of transformative change\n  \nDATE: 15th April 2025. \nTIME: 1pm-3pm Paris / 7pm-9pm Manila / 6am-8am Bogota \nMODALITY: ZOOM. Registration required. Register following this link: https://bit.ly/4j4PYtu \nLANGUAGE: English\, Spanish and French. \nSUMMARY: \nThe Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES)\, the United Nations Educational\, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO)\, and the Network of the Centres of Distinction on Indigenous and Local Knowledge are planning a webinar series discuss the findings of the two recently completed IPBES assessments related to Indigenous Peoples and local communities. \nThe first webinar will explore the key messages relating to Indigenous Peoples and local communities in the IPBES Assessment of Transformative Change (full title: the Thematic assessment of the underlying causes of biodiversity loss and the determinants of transformative change and options for achieving the 2050 Vision for Biodiversity)\, which was completed in 2024. \nThe assessment followed a rigorous approach to working with Indigenous and local knowledge\, including dialogue workshops and contributions from authors across a range of disciplines and knowledge systems. \nThis has resulted in an assessment which highlights and explores the important contributions and roles of Indigenous Peoples and local communities in conceptualizing\, visioning\, managing and governing transformative change\, as well as related opportunities\, risks and ways forward. \nKey messages from the assessment have been approved by the 147 member countries of IPBES. In this webinar\, assessment authors will present the main findings from the assessment\, and Indigenous Peoples and local communities will reflect on their perceptions\, experiences\, management and governance related to transformative change. \nRead more about IPBES work with indigenous and local knowledge here and participation by Indigenous Peoples and local communities here. \n  \nView FullscreenSkip to PDF content\n  \n
