IIFB Silent demonstration at COP 16

The International Indigenous Forum on Biodiversity (IIFB) and partners held a silent demonstration to advocate for the establishment of a Permanent Subsidiary Body on Article 8j (SB8j), in order to ensure the full and effective participation of Indigenous Peoples and local communities in the implementation of the Kunming Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KMGBF), respecting their rights, roles and contributions to biodiversity.
This peaceful demonstration took place at 1 PM outside the exit of Sierra Nevada room, located at the Blue Zone.
Indigenous Peoples representatives held placards on the SB8j to ensure that the Parties were aware of the message. Sônia Guajajara, Brazil´s Ministry of Indigenous Peoples, participated of the demonstration.
