Fruitful Dialogue Between IIFB and Armenia in Preparation for COP17

Rome, 27 February 2025.- The International Indigenous Forum on Biodiversity (IIFB) welcomed today a delegation from the Republic of Armenia, host of the upcoming Seventeenth Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17), during the margins of the resumed session of COP16.2 in Rome.

The meeting took place during IIFB´s Caucus, where co-chairs Lucy Mulenkei and Ramiro Batzin received Mr. David Knyazyan, Head of Multilateral Policy and Development Cooperation, Ms. Lena Terzikyan, Head of EU Division, European Department, and Mr. Karen Khachatryan, Ministry of Environment of the Armenian Government.

This exchange provided a valuable opportunity to initiate an open and constructive dialogue on the preparations for COP17. IIFB representatives shared perspectives and raised key considerations regarding the full and effective participation of Indigenous Peoples and local communities in the process. The Armenian delegation expressed its appreciation for the insights provided. The IIFB welcomes this early engagement and acknowledges the significance of collaborative planning.
