IIFB Position on Target 3 of the Kunming – Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (English and Spanish)

9th February 2025.- In the framework of the Caucus Meeting which took place today, the International Indigenous Forum on Biodiversity approved by consensus the position in Target 3 of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KMGBF).

Target 3 of the KMGBF addresses the effective conservation and management of 30% of terrestrial, inland water, and of coastal and marine areas by 2030.

The IIFB arrived to a consensus on Target 3 after a process of dialogues and meetings, including the support of strategic partners such as the Oregon State University (OSU), with the financial support of the Word Commission on Protected Areas (WCPA).

The reflections shared focused on the challenges and advances of the OMEC framework, concerns and proposals of Indigenous Peoples and local communities.
