Viviana Figueroa is an Omaguaca Indigenous woman with more than 20 years of professional experience working on traditional knowledge, Indigenous people’s rights, and capacity building for indigenous women from Latin America and the Caribbean region.
Viviana holds a PhD in Law and a degree in international public law from the University of Buenos Aires (UBA), Argentina. She is an international consultant. She was one of the Indigenous negotiators of Target 3 of the Kunming Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, as member of the IIFB.
She worked as an Associate Programme Officer at the Convention on Biological Diversity, in the Traditional Knowledge, Innovations and Practice, Mainstreaming, Partnerships and Outreach Division. Previously, she worked at the Argentinian indigenous organization Asociacion de la Juventud Indígena Argentina, where she conducted research on traditional knowledge issues. She is member of the Indigenous Women Biodiversity Network (IWBN).
