June 2, 2025. – Today the Internaional Indigenous Forum on Biodiversity (IIFB) concluded a series of working meetings closing with an IIFB Caucus meeting, where the IIFB’s views regarding the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) Notification 2025-061 inviting submission of views and information in preparation for the first meeting of the Subsidiary Body on Article 8(j) and Other Provisions of the Convention on Biological Diversity Related to Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities were worked on and endorsed by the Caucus.
The proud result of these meeting is an endorsed collective in-depth analysis and contributions of Indigenous Peoples and local communities from the seven (7) socio cultural regions, members of the IIFB; embodied in the following documents:
a) Guidelines on Indigenous and traditional territories (ITTs) in the context of biodiversity conservation, sustainable use and restoration.
b) Guidelines on Spatial planning for biodiversity conservation, sustainable use and restoration in the context of Indigenous Peoples and local communities’ lands, territories and waters.
c) Modus operandi of the Subsidiary Body on Article 8(j) and other provisions of the Convention on Biological Diversity related to Indigenous Peoples and local communities.
